Prevention is the best line of defense against irreversible hearing loss.

Hearing loss can be so gradual that often an impairment is not detected until it is too late. Over time, repeated exposure to noise of 85 dB or more over an 8 hour period can result in permanent hearing loss.

British Columbia's noise regulations require that all workers who are routinely exposed  to noise levels in excess of 85 dB be tested annually.
