Hearing Aids and How They Work

Connect Hearing provides the facts about what hearing aids are and how they work.  Stay informed and learn how hearing aids can help you regain your hearing.

What are Hearing Aids?

Hearing aids are small electronic devices that are worn in or behind the ear. Because they are electronic, they do require small batteries. Many of today’s hearing aids are actually micro computers.

Not only do hearing aids make some sounds louder but they can also amplify sounds from all directions, reduce unwanted noise and much more; there are many types of hearing aids. Now, anyone with hearing loss can listen, communicate and participate the way they want to in daily activities.

How do Hearing Aids Work?

Hearing aids have three basic parts: a microphone, amplifier and speaker. Hearing aids receive sound through a microphone which converts the sounds to electrical signals and sends these to an amplifier. The amplifier increases the power of the signals and then sends them to the ear through a speaker. Modern amplifiers increase the power of these signals in very complex ways before delivering them in to the ears enabling today’s hearing aids to deliver superior personalized benefits.

Hearing aids can suit your lifestyle and help in both quiet and noisy situations.
